Meghan Jones MSW (Master of Social Work)
Mrs. Meghan Jones (Dorion) holds a Masters Degree in Social Work from the Factor-Inwentash Faculty of Social Work at the University of Toronto, with a specialization in children and their families. Mrs. Jones is a Registered Social Worker with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers. She is a Senior Social Worker and the Director of Social Work at Dr. Angela Fountain & Associates.
Mrs. Jones also has experience working at the Children’s Aid Society where she worked with children, adults, and families struggling with mental health issues, physical/sexual/emotional abuse, neglect, trauma, domestic violence, and substance misuse. Mrs. Jones strongly advocated for her clients and worked with a variety of collaterals to best support her client’s needs and ensure the safety of children.
In 2012 and 2013, Mrs. Jones worked with children and families in Africa. Mrs. Jones taught grades 1-12 in a variety of subjects including English, math, science, social studies, and physical education. Mrs. Jones also provided group counselling and one-on-one support to women and children living in impoverished conditions and who were suffering from HIV/AIDS.
Mrs. Jones also holds an Honours Bachelor of Arts Degree from the University of Guelph majoring in Criminal Justice and Public Policy and minoring in Family and Child Studies. Mrs. Jones conducted research for the Guelph Wellington Action Committee on Sexual Assault and Domestic violence and wrote a report on community response models that have been implemented to combat human trafficking.
In addition to the above designations, Mrs. Jones is a certified personal training specialist, children’s fitness coach and sports nutrition specialist. Mrs. Jones has a love for fitness and believes there is a correlation between fitness and mental health.
Mrs. Jones incorporates a variety of techniques from different therapeutic models such as cognitive behavioural therapy, mindfulness meditation, play therapy, applied behaviour analysis, emotion focused family therapy and trauma-focused cognitive behavioural therapy.
