Jodi Heys PsyD (Candidate) (she/her)
Jodi Heys is a Psychology Doctoral Resident completing her full-time psychology residency year at Dr. Fountain and Associates. Jodi comes to the practice with experience working with clients across the lifespan. She takes a systems and integrative approach to working with children, adolescents and their families who are experiencing various challenges. She keeps equity, diversity and inclusivity at the forefront of her mind, while taking a trauma-informed approach to psychotherapy and assessments for individuals and families experiencing a variety of concerns, including, but not limited to anxiety, depression, grief, social and behavioural difficulties, ADHD and obsessive-compulsive disorders. At the practice, Jodi provides intervention and assessment services under the supervision of a member of the psychology team.
Jodi completed her undergraduate degree in 2018, and graduate training in clinical psychology at the University of Prince Edward Island. Prior to her clinical psychology training, Jodi was a paramedic for over 20 years in urban and rural settings. She loved her career as a paramedic, which involved providing care for various medical and psychological issues within emergency and health care systems. Her previous career and recent training in clinical psychology was a natural fit for her long-established inclination to being in community with others. Jodi’s various life experiences provide a broad understanding of the challenges individuals and family systems face, and how they function during these acute and chronic challenges. She is passionate about helping people find ways to navigate difficult times and assist with discovering new paths.
Outside of work, Jodi enjoys connecting with others and anything to do with nature, especially hiking and snowshoeing, identifying birds and other critters, taking photos, and looking for sea glass treasures.
