Janet Amos, Ph.D. (Candidate)
Janet Amos is a Psychology Doctoral-level therapist working under supervision at Dr. Angela Fountain & Associates. Janet provides individual therapy and parent consultation to children and adolescents experiencing challenges such as ADHD, anxiety, autism, behavioural difficulties, depression, learning disabilities, social difficulties, and obsessive-compulsive disorder. She uses a variety of therapeutic modalities, tailored to the needs of each client, including cognitive-behavioural (CBT), behavioural, family, and emotion-focused therapy. Janet also conducts comprehensive psychoeducational evaluations.
Janet has always had a passion for supporting young people. She has been working with children and adolescents since 2008 through summer camps and as a volunteer at Children’s Aid, Holland Bloorview Kids Rehabilitation, and Toronto Distress Centres. In 2013, she graduated with distinction from the University of Guelph with a BA in psychology and went on to pursue graduate training at McGill University. Janet completed a Master’s Degree in School/Applied Child Psychology in 2017 and is currently Doctoral Candidate in the same program. Janet completed her Psychology Doctoral Residency year at Dr. Angela Fountain & Associates from 2020-2021. Throughout her master’s and doctoral training, Janet worked in hospital, clinic, and school board settings providing psychological services.
Outside of work, Janet enjoys getting outdoors through camping, hiking, canoe trips, and snowboarding. She also enjoys yoga, drawing and painting, cooking, reading, and playing the ukulele.
