Dr. Angela Fountain
Dr. Fountain is a registered psychologist with the College of Psychologists of Ontario, certificate #2788. She holds a Ph.D. in developmental clinical psychology and has competency areas in clinical, school and rehabilitation psychology to assess and treat infants, children, adolescents, adults and families. She also has training in family mediation, advanced play therapy techniques, EMDR, theology and is an experienced clinician in the areas of complex care, catastrophic injury, trauma and abuse, dual diagnosis, case management, parent capacity, parent coordination, high conflict divorce and Christian based psychology.
Dr. Fountain is well known in the community for her professional work as a psychologist and her volunteer work with children and families. She is a qualified expert witness in the Durham Courts. She is known for her work with high conflict divorce, parent capacity disputes that involve complex issues of child protection involving sexual, physical and/or emotional abuse, child and adult diagnosable mental health problems, attachment, medical and developmental problems. She is a strong advocate of children's rights and keeping child-parent relationships intact where ever possible.
Dr. Fountain trained and worked at Lakeridge Health Corporation formerly Oshawa General Hospital, in Children's Mental Health for a number of years. She has experience working in inpatient, outpatient and crisis units as well as utilizing community mental health, child and youth resources and interfacing with Durham Region schools and school boards. Prior to entering the field of psychology Dr. Fountain obtained a degree in Occupational Therapy and practiced in this field for a number of years. She has worked both in physical and psychiatric Occupational Therapy first treating injured workers and then setting up and maintaining a psychiatric day hospital.
Dr. Fountain also provides separate Christian based services and counselling for those clients who are comfortable with or requesting biblically based counselling. She herself grew up in a Christian household and her father was an Anglican minister. She is currently working on her Masters in Theology to augment her psychology training. She has a strong belief in community outreach and providing services to families in need. She also makes a point of annually engaging in overseas mission work.
